Strapless Wedding Gown

Of all the times that I am shopping for a wedding gown, it seems that 80% of the dresses that are in the stores are strapless. I have loved a few of them from the front, but the back only looks good on the models and the hangers. Is there any type of alterations that can be made to eliminate the skin that hangs over the back? This style seems to emphasize backfat.
