Here are a few suggestions for you to try on a scrap first.

Release the tension on your pressure foot quit abit and lenghten your stitch.
Do a zig-zag.
Cut strips of interfacing and iron on bottom of hem you are turning up and sew with released pressure foot. (Don't totally release your pressure foot or it won't feed the fabric threw very good.
Did you think about the hem stretching when you put the garment on? If you use just a straight stitch it will likely break the stitches. You'll likely have to use some sort of stretch stitch or a zig-zag. Like I said test it first as I would hate for you to wreck your garment on my advice. It's been so long since I've done this I can't remember exactly what I did but hope this gives you some good ideas.
