Whole Cloth Quilt

: My apologies if this appears twice; my computer is having hissy fits :-P : I am a new quilter and I don't understand the construction of a whole cloth quilt. I keep reading that it is made from one piece of material. Does "whole cloth" refer to the fact no other fabrics are used? : I also have read whole cloth quilts have no borders or binding. What about rough/cut edges? : I am nowhere near doing a whole cloth quilt yet, but I wanted to get this straight. : Thanks! : Robin
