With old slip, add a few drops of SLIP THINNER and distilled water. Your best bet is to use a paint mixer on an electric drill to get it started.

Slip should meet a certain viscosity in order to pour well. You can find information on this on the itnernet. There are tools that help you find out if your slip is the right density and viscosity.

If the slip is mildewed, it is still usable. Some people add a spoon of clorox to it to remove the mildew, but in actuality, the old time doll makers will tell you that mildewed slip made the finest porcelain.
