Jade, even if it doesn't work well enough to get good quality SFGW there are also other uses for this kind of slip. Sometimes you need to do a discard pouring for a brand new mold to clean it out and just discard the pour - this way you won't need to use your "good" slip. Also, sometimes you need a "pancake" to fire other pieces on like a big SP for instance. Just a thought to use a slip that may not be best quality (don't know how badly dried out it was). Also, you can collect your spares and discarded pieces, also add distilled H20 and mix with a drill and mixer and use that for "pancakes" and discard pours as well. Color doesn't matter so you could have a mix of colors for this. I'm not a big fan of what I think is called reconstituted slip for quality SFGW but there are uses for it to save the "good" slip for the SFGW. Thanks, Char

: Jade, you might be able to. I've had lots of old slip dry or thicken and I've had better luck with the almost rock solid stuff than the thick. It is a slow, tiring process - I would add distilled water, sort of shake it around and wait a few days, then push and hack away to get it going, I used a big, stainless steel utility spoon to sort of chop it up. Then a bit more water and back to the hard part. It takes a while and you do have to really mix it after you get to where you can stir it, maybe use an electric drill and mixing attachment - and - there is still a chance it won't work. But on the other hand, if it does, you've got good, free slip. If you get it mixed you could test it on a small mold and see what happens. Kiln magic, maybe!!!
