They are a tall standing cone. You would put three in the kiln...and you should also use them for firing. If you are checking the 'low' temps I would use a cone 017, 018, and 019. When the cone reaches the required temperature it will bend over close to the bottom of the kiln. Is this a very old kiln? If you were able to get elements for it, would you be able to get a booklet about the kiln from the same supplier? If this is a 110 kiln, you should probably not be firing to Cone 6 as that will wear out your elements. But if you wanted to try the high fire, you would use a Cone 5,6 and 7 to test that temperature. Does this kiln take cones to run it? It should have a cone sitter on the side of the wall. Which is totally different from witness cones. Is your teacher still around? And would she be willing to share with you how to do this? I don't know about you, but I am a 'show me' kind of person. Show me and it is in my brain forever! tehehehehehe And much easier than trying to read and get it right.
: : : This is what is on the kiln. : : Thanks for the help,
