Help identifying old horsman w/crier box?Posted by Kat on December 31, 2006 at 15:34:13: We've acquired this rather poorly aged horsman doll. (Her neck is hallmarked 'horsman' and under it 'dolls' only. No other markings fund. I thought her eyes were so old they were squeeking when we moved her, until I removed the infant clothing and learned ther is a round dotted stain outlining what I think is a squeeker or crier box? Her face has some graying marks and chips which reveal a brown like substance underneath. Near the forhead are similar chips which reveal the same swirly pattern of that part of her head. She has a soft blond style wig (mohair?) which is sewn to a white net backing and stapled directly to her head (but attached still by only one staple). Under the wig is a molded hair style. Her legs are darker than her arms and more crackly than the arms. Her body reminds me of an old flour sack type of material, which is gathered at the neck and looks tied with a wire type enclosure to keep it taught. Any help you can offer to identify this babe would be appreciated!
