My Grandmother had a beautifuly framed Christmas Tree "collage portrait" where she simply placed green "pearls" in the outline of a Christmas tree, and placed brightly colored jewels as the ornaments. I believe the background material used was either black, or dark green velvet. Hers measured around 11x20" rectangle.
Now here's a twist..If I remember correctly, there were also tiny lights amonst the jewels. I never looked at the back, so I have no idea how she hid the cord.
Let me know if you find anything else on this, as i'd love to make one myself!
