antique doll

I had just be given an antique doll that belonged to my grandmother. Her head in china and her limbs and body are wooden ( jointed). She had made in Germany on tha back of her neck with a number next to it) She is dressed in a lace outfit with petticoats. She is in very good condition. My Grandmother would have be given her in 1900-1905.
What would her background be ? Should I get her restored ? She has a few marks on her face. How shoudl I clean it ?
