saw dust filled doll

I found a saw dust filled doll at a garage sale. She has a vinyl painted face, pigtails, joints on the legs and the arms are crudely sewn on. Unfortunately her clothes were dirty and I washed them. (they faded) The gentleman I purchased it from said his mother had it when she was a girl and he looked to be around 80 yrs. old. Any Ideas how I can research this?
