So I was rooting through my boxes in the basement the other day and found a doll my grandfather bought me many years ago (probably between 10 and 12 years ago). I was very young, and it was too beautiful to be played with and messed up but I wasn't old enough to appreciate the art, so she went back in her box. She's "Emma Lee" from Edna Hibel's Bambolina collection. The booklet that was in the box says: After having so much enjoyed designing and creating her first wooden doll series, "Amy Lou," Edna enthusiastically delved into a second series and is very proud to introduce the fruit of her labors . . . "Emma Lee" is carved from the beautiful maple wood from the Dolomite mountains of northern Italy. Each doll is hand-finished and hand-painted by the artisans of the "Old World". The edition of 500 contains thirty costumed versions of 10 each totaling 300. In addition, there is a special holiday section of 200 entitled "Enchantment". All 200 of these dolls are grandly dressed in cream silk batiste with layers of Schiffli lace and pearls. A richly handcrafted glass ornament from Germany adorns this winter angel. Edna collected fabrics, laces, and trim from all over the world and has designed a Swedish inspired headpiece with long, flowing streamers full of flowers. "Emma Lee" measures 14" tall with wooden arms, legs, and head attached to a soft body. Each doll has a certificate of authenticity, is hand-signed and numbered and comes with a stand and gift box. The certificate of authenticity says she is version 9, number 6 of 10. I have no real idea what she is worth, one site told me $675 but I don't know how recent that price is or anything. She is in impeccable condition. (I can provide pictures if anyone is interested). Any insight on this doll is appreciated.
