doll marked "A.S. foreign 82 3"

Hi Folks,
I'm trying to identify a doll with the above markings on the back of her head. She has wooden ball jointed and composition limbs held by a wire that goes to the back of her head. Head appears to be a crude type of china. i.e the ears are not as well formed as a bisque doll and the head has a dull sound when tapped (unlike bisque heads).
Any help for a novice would be appreciated.
